Alan has been Netheravon Ward District Councillor for 8 years and is Chairman of Fittleton Parish Council.He collects for the British Legion Poppy Appeal in the parish and is also fundraising secretary of a Cancer Appeal Fund, raising over £3,500 for treatment of an Enford Resident. With his wife Jane they rescue & rehome Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Japanese Chin dogs. He is Chairman and secretary of Salisbury & South Wilts Canine Society which organises two local dog shows every year, and is coorganiser of Fittleton’s Charity Dog Shows.
